hi, I’m Tara

— a multidisciplinary artist embracing a vast array of creative expression, from illustrations and paintings, to murals, performance, music, and dance.

I celebrate the beauty of human experience, the cycles of nature, and the mystery of the dream state. I have an enduring obsession with the surreal, often placing real natural wonders within this context.

Living between Seattle and Port Townsend, Washington, I draw inspiration from the Olympic Peninsula’s diverse landscapes, which encompass not only the region’s stunning natural beauty, but also its rich history, and the unique charm of a Victorian small town juxtaposed with the dynamic energy of the cityscape. I’m fascinated by the animals and plants that inhabit these landscapes. Mushrooms, birds and banana slugs? Yes.

With a background in Fine Arts and Theatre from the University of Pittsburgh and four years of intensive study in the Master’s training program for Drama at the University of Washington, I bring a unique combination of artistic and performative perspectives to my work. My artistic journey is an adventure in composition, incorporating various mediums, surfaces, and repurposed materials. I’m passionate about giving new life to discarded items, transforming waste into wonder, and challenging the disposable culture that threatens our planet. Through my art and performance, I seek to inspire a deeper understanding of our intricate relationships with nature, ourselves, and each other, and to encourage a more mindful and sustainable approach to creativity.

Recently featured in ‘Viral Murals’ by Chatwin Books, I was honored to have my work showcased alongside other talented artists who brought joy and resilience to communities during challenging times. In 2020, I contributed seven murals across the exterior of Seattle businesses throughout the city during the lockdown, helping to keep the spirit of #SeattleStrong alive and encouraging community connection and hope.
